Life Skills Group

Lounge News

On February 8th we had our first life skills group at JRF. We had covered time management skills and focused on discussing ways we organize our time. The clients had enjoyed the donuts offered and described ways they can better manage their time. Calendars, using the worksheet that was provided, and making to-do lists were common answers. Though the group was small, it was easy to incorporate everyone into the conversation. We had found through articles online that making to-do lists, finding breaks, grounding yourself (the five senses technique), and finding what time of the day are the most productive are some of the basic steps. Time management is built over time and is best incorporated in a consistent routine. It is a skill that is practiced, which takes time to adjust to and learn.

The next group we will have will be on March 22nd at 12 pm. From our clients, we have discussed potential ideas such as budgeting, technical skills (sending emails, using Zoom), reducing distractions and staying on task. There have also been ideas about communication and how to build deeper connections with others. This group will be hosted every two weeks, the next meeting being on March 22nd.
